Hampton Homecoming 2019 is Here!

It's finally homecoming season and I can't wait to head down to my home by the sea! The band, the bazaar, the blue white, I can't wait to dive into it all! But first, I need to get there, and before I get there, I need to pack.

My friend got married a few weeks ago, and going on that 4 day trip definitely reminded me of the importance of packing light and packing right.

So without further ado, I present my master HU Homecoming Packing List. If I missed anything, shoot me a comment. Feel free to also use this list for any weekend overnight trips in the fall. I will be blogging about my 2019 HU experience so stay tuned!

Clothes

• 3 Daytime Looks - One for the bazaar, one for the game, and one for the trip back home
• 2 Night Time Looks - Friday and Saturday night
• 3 pairs of shoes - you can wear one pair while you're traveling, bring at least one pair of flats. All HU events will have long lines, for tickets, for drinks, for the club. You will be standing.
• 1 sweater - for fall weather
• 1 jacket - for the inevitable rain storm
• 2 sets of pajamas - you can add a morning look or a light robe if you're staying with people you dont know
• Shower shoes
• 1 or 2 scarves - one heavy and one light for weather changes
• 1 hat - also for weather changes
• 1 headscarf or bonnet - silk, satin, or whatever you need to maintain your hair
• Belt - if needed or as accessories
• 3 bras minimum, at least one strapless bra
• 4 pairs of Underwear (you never know)
• 3 pairs of socks
• Sunglasses
• Small purse or clutch for going out
• Travel purse or bag

Toiletries

• Lotion
• Your own body wash
• Face Towel
• Body scrubber/Loofah
• Toothpaste
• Toothbrush
• Facial cleanser/soap
• Facial moisturizer
• Sun screen
• Deodorant
• Perfume
• Any neccessary medications
• Tissues (easily reachable for the trip)
• Wet wipes or makeup wipes

Makeup

1 Makeup Bag which includes:

• Lip balm/Lip gloss
• Primer
• Foundation
• Concealer/Corrector
• Eyebrow Pencil
• Contour palette or stick
• Bronzer or Blush
• Setting powder or spray
• Eyeliner
• Mascara
• Eyeshadow palette
• Makeup brushes
• Blending sponge
• Eyelashes (if using)
• Lipsticks or liquid lipsticks
• Lip liner

Extra Items (optional)

• Greek paraphanalia 
• Hampton University merchandise or gear
• Turnup Cup or Flask (In HU campus police approved areas and events) 
• Your ID or License (see above)
• An umbrella
• Event Tickets
• Gifts for your friends
• A list of job openings and upcoming internships for current students
• Headphones (for long bus rides)
• Phone External Battery Pack (for long bus rides with no working outlets)
• Phone charger
• Tablet for entertainment
• A good car ride playlist
• Cash for the bazaar (You DO NOT want to use the ATM, that line will be crazy)
• Game Tickets
• Picnic blanket (you never know)
